A man who contaminated sweets with sleeping medication and gave them to youngsters at a summer program in the area has confessed to sexual offenses against two young males who were nine and ten years old.
The accused was detained after eight youngsters and a grown-up experienced illness at the facility in the summer month.
The elderly man, from that region, pleaded guilty to a series of 17 offences when he was present at the judicial center on the end of the week.
Nevertheless, he disputed a single sexual charge he was charged with, which was concerning a young boy.
Ruben was kept in jail ahead of a further hearing on November 28th.
'Treat game'
The legal representative, handling the case, outlined Ruben's offending to the legal proceedings.
She said his targets were disadvantaged youngsters who were participating in a summer camp which he ran.
The man engaged in a "candy game" with the minors, the prosecutor said, in which he would enter the boys' rooms when they were getting ready for bed and tell them to consume candy "as quickly as they can".
She informed the proceedings the defendant had played this game with the children "over an extended period", and children had previously become sick the next day.
She explained the defendant had been successful in rationalizing this for many years as the children being "overexcited from fun", until his stepson had suspicions in summer 2025.
The legal representative continued: "In the summer" his stepchild had concerns about the situation, with valid cause.
"They decided to investigate in the man's possessions."
The legal counsel stated objects including lubricant, Vaseline and injection devices were located, and his stepchild contacted the authorities about his concerns.
She explained the defendant went on to conduct the "sweet game" with six boys that night - July 26th - and they were all sick the subsequent day.
"Law enforcement" had not gone out by that point," she added.
The police watchdog, the Independent Office for Police Conduct, previously told that it was reviewing law enforcement's management of the events.
The legal representative stated the children were having difficulty walking due to being ill, so the stepson notified the police once more.
She stated the defendant then played the "sweet game" in a room of five minors.
