Nineteen of Daniil Medvedev's twenty-one titles have been achieved on hard surfaces

A revitalized Daniil Medvedev claimed his maiden championship for over two years with a win over Frenchman Moutet in the Almaty Open title decider.

The athlete, a former top-ranked player, has endured a torrid year, achieving just one win at the Grand Slams and experiencing a difficult moment at the New York tournament.

The player's varied form on the ATP Tour - and difficulties with his serve in specific - led to him exiting of the world's top 10 and eventually parting ways with long-term trainer Cervara.

Currently training with his coach and his other coach, Medvedev has consistently progressed in the last few weeks - peaking in a closely contested three-set win over Frenchman Moutet.

It is the player's first trophy after the 2023 Rome Masters and initial on a hard court since spring of 2023.

Success also means the Russian has won twenty-one victories at 21 distinct competitions.

"For the first time I am participating in a event with my two daughters together, so to secure a title is really nice," said world number 14 the champion.

"This championship is in honour of my younger daughter Victoria, because the initial championship I won when my child her name was born was for her."

The athlete, the former major winner, had lost his previous six title deciders, comprising in Halle in the past months.

His defensive strategy and regular emotional displays on the tennis court had caused observers to doubt if his capacity to perform at the elite level was finished.

However the athlete has implemented adjustments in the past month, making an effort to come to the net and play positively, reinforced by an enhanced serving game.

Medvedev fought back from a deficit in the initial set against the tricky Frenchman, taking 4 of the concluding five games to gain the advantage.

The competitors traded break points in the second set before Moutet, striving for his maiden tour championship, seized the initiative to force a final set.

Moutet saved four initial break points in a competitive third set before Medvedev won the break to that score to secure the win.

Fittingly, Medvedev clinched the win with a shot at the front of the court, with the Frenchman incapable to handle a shot after a lengthy match.
